This forest path develops along the ridge and the east side of Mount Malerba. The itinerary crosses a suggestive oak wood, sometimes interrupted by a shrub vegetation where the heather dominates.
Making a short deviation from the path, the itinerary offers the possibility to visit the medieval ruins of Gallipolis, located at Tempa Castello, of high historical interest.

ITINERARY
Follow up the path for almost 0.5 km until you reach an intersection.
Turn right and continue until you reach the slope of Tempa castello: here make a deviation to observe the medieval ruins of Gallipolis.
Continue up to the ridge of Mount Malerba, then go down to the intersection of Manca Giliberti.
Turn left and follow the white road to Pila Salice. At the following intersection, turn left and walk for a short climbing section, until you reach the connection road Gallipoli - Monte Croccia.
Turn again left and continue along the road that leads to the Directional Centre of the Park at Caserma Palazzo.
This itinerary presents some section in common with itinerary 701 and 706.
The path develops in a wooded area but it also offer wonderful landscape views on Basento River and, in the distance, on the towns of Campomaggiore and Albano di Lucania.
It is not rare to meet some animals long the path, especially birds and amphibious (salamanders and newts) near the stream Scannacapre and next to natural pools.

The path wanders along an easy forest road.
Continue uphill and, once getting across the path that leads to spring Acqua delle Tortore, turn right and continue until you reach the ridge of Mount Malerba.
Turn right and continue down to the provincial road Accettura - Basentana.
After 0.1 km, turn left on the unpaved road to spring Carpentiere and continue along the ridge Cresta La Rossa.
Continue along the white road, for 2 km, until you reach the intersection: turn right and continue down toward spring Scannacapre. Continue uphill until you reach Caserma Palazzo.
This itinerary, rich in lookout point, gives the opportunity to observe the whole landscape variety of the Park. Starting from an astonishing mountain landscape made of huge blocks of bare rock dominating the area, proceeding along wide clearings and high-altitude pastures and finally arriving among rich oak, maple and chestnut woods, the path allows the observation of many flora and fauna species, of high beauty and interest.
Each year, from Montepiano Wood, one of the wood interested by the itinerary, an oak is cut to become the “Maggio”, the most beautiful tree to be used during the “Festa del Maggio”, a charming festival that characterises most of the town of the Park.

ITINERARY
The path start at the crossroad between the road Pietrapertosa-Accettura and the sheep track “Montepiano”.
From Pietrapertosa, follow the road to Accettura for 1.5 km until you reach the sheep track.Once reached the crossroad, turn left following the white road. After a steep climb, continue along the path, crossing pastures and high altitude arable fields over 1.200 mt., until you reach the peak of Costa Cervitale. Continue climbing at the top of Mount Impiso at 1.295 meters above sea level.
Continue the path descending from the mountain, walking through valleys and oak, maple and chestnut wood, until you reach an embankment and then the intersection with the paved road.Turn right and follow the paved road, entering Montepiano Wood.
At the second crossroad, turn right and continue down toward the fountain called “Frusci” (1.050 mt. a.s.l.).
At the crossroad next to the fountain, turn right and take the paved road until you reach Contrada Castagna (1.000 mt. a.s.l.). Continue along the path, right to the end of it. Along this last portion of itinerary, many water points are present.
This itinerary moves among open space and cultivated areas, touching the town of Oliveto Lucano. Walking along it, wide landscapes on stream Salandrella give way to majestic downy oaks and, being lucky, to the meeting with many animals living in the area.

ITINERARY
The route starts with a descent that reaches Oliveto Lucano in the area of Neviera.
Turning right, you enter a small paved road that leads to Pian del Campo area. Along the road, looking at the town, it is possible to observe the vertical walls of the cliff on which the old town is built.
Once arrived at Pian del Campo, the route continue on a white road developing among olive groves and open spaces until the intersection with Acqua di Cucco. From here, the uphill leading to Vallone Piscicolo starts to turn then right to cross the municipal road Oliveto - Monte Croccia. From here, the itinerary moves down to reach the starting point.
This path, peculiar for its landscape and nature, moves along the ridges of the Dolomiti Lucane, crossing the town of Castelmezzano.
The route starts among the narrow streets of the village and, once overcome St. Mary’s Chapel, it reaches a wide ridge from which enjoy wonderful panoramic views; the path continues down across woods and small clearings, along the ridge that looks out the stream Caperrino, until it returns to the starting point.

Follow the road that leads to the town of Castelmezzano until you reach Corso Vittorio Emanuele II.
Turn right and continue until you reach Palazzo Ducale. Here make a short deviation to visit the ruins of the Medieval Castle.Turn left and continue up to St. Mary’s Chapel.
Once overcome the church, continue for 1 km along the ridge.Turn right and go down. Continue through the wood, following the signposts, until you reach the Provincial road to Pietrapertosa. Take this road to reach the starting point.
