The second edition of Buena Vista Social Parco, the photographic contest of the Gallipoli Cognato Park Piccole Dolomiti Lucane, start on 1 August 2017 and will be open until 30 June 2018, in a new "4 seasons" formula. The temporary citizens of the Park area, in fact, will have the opportunity to participate in the competition, taking photographs during all 4 seasons. A hymn to creativity, to nature, to tell, with images and their sharing, the extraordinary heritage of biodiversity present in the Park area.
"The competition addressed to all those who will visit the park, our temporary citizens," says Park President Mario Atlante, "is an idea born following the experiences of managing the Naturarte program. Thanks to this program we have been able to verify a real boom of connections on social channels (Facebook, Instagram, twitter), and already experimented last year with over 200 photos taken part in the contest. For this reason, we decided to continue the path and re-launch with a new formula that could stimulate professional and amateur photographers, with reflex machines or simply smartphones and tablets ".
"Social communication, open, shared", added Marco Delorenzo, Director of the Park, "is a great opportunity, an extra tool, with great potential, that the natural parks, of which the territory of Lucania is particularly rich. These elements must increasingly exploit to narrate the territorial peculiarities and promote the wonderful beauty of these natural environments that must finally stop being reserves and become habitats in which to live in harmony with the most precious resource at our disposal: nature".
Participation to the competition is free; just send a maximum of five photos in the following ways:
- Upload the photo on your twitter profile, quote the official account of the park @parco_gcpdl and use the hashtag #bvsparco
- Upload the photo on your Instagram profile, quote the official account of the park @parco_gcpdl and use the hashtag #bvsparco

Photos taken only within the Park area can be sent. The winner will receive a go-pro black, the second classified will be given two tickets for the "Flight of the Angel", and to the third place will go two free entries to the adventure park "Lucania Outdoor Park".
All the photos will be visible on the social web #bsvparco that will be published on the official site of the Park starting from 1 November 2017. In this way, all users will be able to navigate the wonderful photographic story that will be composed thanks to the creative contribution of the network.

The Natural Park of Gallipoli Cognato Piccole Dolomiti Lucane, geographically includes an area located at the center of the Apennine system and is an important ecological corridor linking continental Europe to the Mediterranean basin.
This territory, of considerable ecological value, is of particular importance for the conservation of migratory and permanent birds and is a priority habitat for the maintenance and reproduction of some species of birds of prey already extinct in Italy as nesting, which in these areas are still present in good numbers.
In this vision, the Park Authority has launched research programs on wildlife, establishing an ornithological station for scientific capture and ringing, a wild animal recovery center (CRAS), a census of wildlife species of national and international interest, at risk of extinction.
Confirmed for 2017 the ISO 14001: 2015 certification for our Park. The Park, aware that its responsibilities are connected to the management of the territory that falls under its direct competences and responsibilities and to the quality of life, present and future, of the people who live there, implements actions to improve the environmental management of its activities. Therefore, it has adopted institutional principles in order to structure an Environmental Policy that complies with the requirements of the ISO 14001 standard.

L’Ente Parco, consapevole che le sue responsabilità sono connesse alla gestione del territorio che ricade sotto le sue dirette competenze e responsabilità e alla qualità della vita, presente e futura, delle persone che lo abitano e consapevole del proprio ruolo di soggetto attivo nella pianificazione e gestione territoriale, sta avviando azioni per il miglioramento della gestione ambientale delle sue attività.
Pertanto sta adottando principi istituzionali al fine di strutturare una Politica Ambientale conforme ai requisiti della norma ISO 14001 ed in base alla quale definire i prossimi Obiettivi e Traguardi Ambientali del Sistema di Gestione Ambientale

How to reach us
The Park offices and the main nucleus equipped to serve visitors is located along the provincial road Accettura - Gallipoli - Balzano Bridge at km 8.
Coming from both Potenza and Matera, along the SS 407 Basentana, take the Campomaggiore exit and continue for about 8 km towards Accettura.
